60 bags of rice for medical ship

A total of 60 bags of Trukai 10kg and Natural Brown rice  were donated to the YWAM team who were at the Motukea port two weeks ago before going out to their outreach in Central Province.

The rice will be used to provision the ship where they have volunteers assisting as doctors, nurses, dentists with outreaches to the far-flung areas of PNG to deliver medical services such as eye surgery, dental care, vaccination and general medicine.

Trukai Industries has been very supportive over the years with rice donation to the medical ship in Port Moresby and Lae recently.

Trukai expanding investment in local rice production

With the cooperation of the Chingwam Rice Growers Cooperative, Trukai will be establishing a 500-hectare rice plantation near Rangiampum initially for a rain fed crop to be established in 2017.

This is in addition to the existing 80-hectare site already producing rice for the cooperative, under the management of Trukai’s rice development team.

This site will be progressively expanded possibly up to 1,500-2,000 hectares over a number of seasons, although this will be subject to relevant agreements and climatic and soil evaluations.
