PM confident in Papua LNG benefits

This is in addition to other benefits that the State will get through a National Content Plan and Domestic Market Obligation.

The Prime Minister said this in Parliament yesterday in its first sitting.

“I think we are aiming for very good benefits out of this particular project in terms of equity that we will fully participate in that. In terms of royalties, (and) domestic market obligation.

State stakes 30pc in Central Dairy Limited

A deed of novation is an agreement which transfers one party's rights and obligations under a contract to a new third party.

In this case, the rights have been transferred to the State to Kumul Consolidated Holdings, taking up 30 percent interest in Central Dairy Limited.

The signing signals the beginning of the joint venture company – the Central Dairy Limited – and reflects public private investment and partnership.

State liable to pay victim of police brutality

Jeff Joe Lome filed a Human rights case in 2011 against Katu Sele, the Commissioner of Police and the state after he was assaulted by police outside the club on 24 June 2010.

The incident occurred between 1:30 and 2am.

Lome claims he fell unconscious as a result of the assault, and was taken to a private clinic for treatment.

He sustained fractures to his wrist, cuts to his nose, eyes, and lost two teeth from the assault. This was supported by medical reports.

NSL takes legal action on State over outstanding payments

This was revealed by NSL Board Chairman, Anthony Smare, when announcing NSL’s 2016 result.

He says proceedings were filed in late February to recover K130 million that is owed to exited members.

Despite the court action, there are already discussions between NSL over the outstanding amount.

“We’ve also had positive discussions with state looking at a number of different options to address this K130 million they owe our exited members,” Smare said.
