NCSL members urged to register for debit card

NCSL is urging its 100,000-plus membership base to register their interest for a debit card.

This in preparation for the launch of its debit card offering and Point of Sale terminals by the end of the first quarter 2019.

NCSL General Manager, Vari Lahui, said a debit card will be issued to each member when he/she applies for a NCSL Transaction Account.

The application form for the transaction account is available on the NCSL website for members.

Lahui said members with online access to the Members’ Portal will be able to download the form from the NCSL website to complete and submit to for processing. An initial balance deposit of K10 is required to open the Transaction Account.

He is also encouraging members who have not registered for the online portal to register so they can be able to access the convenient services provided through the various electronic channels.

Lahui added that the debit cards will greatly enhance the accessing of funds by members, which is another development by NCSL in its mission to continue improving and providing an efficient and consistent service to its members who are from both the private and public sectors.

He said the debit cards will be linked to the members’ newly-established transactional accounts which would enable even quicker access to funds and doing purchases, as opposed to current practice of disbursing of funds to members’ accounts at commercial banks.

NCSL is looking to issue an initial batch of 50,000 debit cards by April and expects this to grow very quickly after the launch.

The debit card offering will be available nationwide, with initial roll out planned for the regional centres of Port Moresby, Lae, Mt. Hagen and Kokopo, followed by the other provinces.
